Annual Winter Concert Slated


LOGAN — The Logan High School Instrumental Music Department will be presenting the annual Winter Concert in the Logan High School Theatre on Thursday, Feb. 6, at 7 p.m.

Director of Bands is Pam Price. Assistant directors are Ben Wright and Jennifer Olis with Ryan Garrett as percussion instructor.

The Seventh Grade Band will open the concert with “ Coronation Fanfare” by Robert W. Smith; “School Detective” by Jukka Viitasaari; and “IronHeart” by Randall Standridge.

The Eighth Grade Band will perform “Dark Matter” by John M. Pasternak, “The Phantom of the Opera” arranged by Michael Sweeney, and “Byzantine Dances” by Carol Brittin Chambers.

The Logan High School Jazz Band will perform the following selections “Cajun Chili Peppers” by Doug Beach and George Shutack; “Blue Bossa” by Kenny Dorham; “Tango for Jam Jam” by Zachary Smith; “Don’t Know Why” by Jesse Harris; and “Old Devil Moon” arranged by Dave Wolpe.

The Senior High Concert Band will be performing “The Klaxon” by Henry Fillmore/arr. Balent; “Autumn Roads” by Patrick Roszell, “The Last to Defend” by David Shaffer; and “Haywire” by Eric Morales.

Admission to the concert is $2 for students and $3 for adults.

Upcoming events for the instrumental music department include Disney World Parade/Trip for the High School Band March 10-15; Spring Musical on March 20-22; Annual Spring Concert on April 30; Senior High Band Banquet on May 6; Graduation Ceremonies on May 22; Alumni Day Concert (Jazz Band) on May 23; Memorial Day Parade (High School Band) on May 25 and summer sectionals for High School Band May 26 — 29.
